Blame it on Gumby (and Grandma)

One of my favorite childhood heroes was the green bendy guy Gumby. He and his trusty sidekick, Pokey, always went on amazing adventures together. He could roll himself into a ball, stretch and change form. Another favorite pastime was going to my Grandmother's house. She was an artist who always had half-finished projects around the house. My visits with her usually included something art and craft related.

Later, I bought a Sculpey clay kit for my daughter. We made a few projects together. My love affair with polymer clay began. I started reading about this amazing substance and couldn't get enough information about it.

Ah, Polymer Clay - what an amazing substance! You can stamp, paint, roll, mold and sculpt it. The incredible range of colors it comes in can be further mixed to almost any custom color you can imagine. "Canes" can be created (think sushi rolls) which imitate the Italian method of millefiori glass. Slices of these canes are used for multiple projects including covering beads and making polymer clay "fabric".

My clay of choice is called Premo. I have also recently started delving into the exciting world of wire working.
